Hey, I'm Emi.

I'm an entry level cybersecurity analyst with a background in full stack web development and over a decade of teaching experience abroad. I'm Security+ certified and focused on security operations, risk reduction, and understanding how real attackers think so I can help defenders stay ahead.

Before shifting into security, I earned my B.A. in Applied Linguistics and spent 12 years in Japan as an English teacher. That time taught me how to communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure, and explain complex ideas in simple language, which is exactly what you want when incidents, investigations, and stakeholders are all moving at once.

Technically, I combine defensive security skills with experience in modern web technologies like Next.js, React, Node.js, and MongoDB. I care about systems that are usable, predictable, and built with security in mind from the start, not bolted on at the end.

I'm actively growing my blue team skills in log analysis, SIEM fundamentals, endpoint monitoring, network traffic analysis, and threat intelligence. Long term, I plan to move toward offensive security and red teaming so I can bring that mindset back to the organizations I support.

I'm currently working on my M.S. in Cybersecurity Management at Purdue University Global, with an expected graduation in December 2027.
